How Our Scrap Car Service Works
From your first call to the final handover, here's exactly what to expect when you scrap your car with us.
Three Steps from Quote to Collection
Most customers are completely finished β quote agreed, vehicle collected, payment received β within 24 hours of first contacting us.
Get Your Quote
Contact us by phone on 07593 103323 or use the online quote form. We'll ask for:
Your vehicle's registration number
Your postcode (so we know the collection area)
A brief description of the vehicle's condition β running, non-running, damaged, etc.
Based on this, we'll give you a firm quote. There's no obligation to accept, and we won't pester you if you decide not to proceed.
Book Your Collection
Once you're happy with the quote, we agree a collection slot that suits you. We typically offer:
Same-day collection (subject to availability)
Next-day slots Monday through Saturday
Morning or afternoon time windows
Before collection day, make sure you have your V5C (logbook) if available, your photo ID, and your bank account details for payment. If you've lost the V5C, don't worry β contact us and we'll advise on how to proceed.
Collection, Payment & Paperwork
On the day, our driver will arrive at the agreed time. Here's what happens:
We verify your identity and inspect the vehicle β a quick check to confirm it matches what was described
Payment is processed by bank transfer β you'll usually see it in your account within a couple of hours
The vehicle is loaded and taken to a licensed authorised treatment facility for responsible recycling
We notify the DVLA that the vehicle has been scrapped, removing it from your name
Your Certificate of Destruction (CoD) is issued β keep this as proof the vehicle was legally disposed of
What Happens to Your Vehicle?
End-of-life vehicles contain a range of hazardous materials β oil, coolant, brake fluid, refrigerant, and airbag propellants β that must be removed and disposed of safely before the vehicle can be recycled.
All vehicles we collect are taken to an Authorised Treatment Facility (ATF) licensed by the Environment Agency. The ATF carries out a full depollution process before the remaining materials β steel, aluminium, copper, and plastics β are recycled.
Under the End of Life Vehicles (ELV) Regulations, at least 95% of a vehicle's weight must be reused or recycled. Working with a licensed service like ours means your vehicle is disposed of in full compliance with UK law.
Certificate of Destruction
Every vehicle processed by a licensed ATF must be issued with a Certificate of Destruction (CoD). This document:
Proves the vehicle has been legally scrapped
Removes the vehicle from your DVLA records
Confirms you are no longer liable for vehicle tax, insurance or fines
Keep your CoD safe. It is your legal proof that the vehicle was properly disposed of. If any fines or road traffic issues arise relating to the vehicle after scrapping, your CoD is your protection.
